Best in show

Greetings to you all, big or small, eyes, minds and all. This is Cee aka Cwyk (like quick) aka Chambers aka Wooo watch out now, reporting from the 3rd rock from the Sun, a tiny blue ball in space called Earth with another entry into Omegasunslight. This is about the conversations that mention the phrase "greatest of all time". Yes, the G.O.A.T. Many perspectives,  stats, facts and nuances have to be taken in extreme consideration to even mention someone as the GOAT for anything. The "best" is not a term to be used loosely for it may blemish another that can come up with better.
The major one in recent weeks has been the Lebron crusade or inquisition depending on where you stand on this topic. Removed from that even the most pronounced dissenter of the Lebron parade has to respect his talent, just like the Kobe argument who is also mentioned in the quest to top Jordan. There are certain requirements that are necessary that cannot be measured by statistical information. The background story, the hunger, the rise to recognition then to prominence followed by "game making" or "game changing" and ending in immortal legend status. This is for any category or genre. Take boxing. We easliy mention Muhammed Ali (Cassius Clay as well..see the evolution) separating himself from the pack of great fighters at his time not just being a big country boy from Louisville, but his ring presence and work ethic. He drew us in with that. Then his prowess, performance and dominance would take over. Bam! He's the champ. But he doesn't rest on his laurels, he steps it up. Reinvents himself through his convictions and discipline without worry or apology, which everyone at that time wanted to do but was afraid to do, and rose to iconic status. That my friends, transcended his boxing legend status to great man status. Name a few that did it like that among the watch of people some would consider themselves to be enemies of, and see how much respect that had to give him. The greatest.
There's the presidency yeah the president. The only president I know for winning a Noble peace prize by getting elected. I'm not going to toy around with any Obama bashing or praising but the rise to greatness status was based on his will to impose his "I'm from the people" mentality on us. It was impressive to see how he skillfully articulated his platform effortlessly with style. He showed charisma, the women want him and many men want to be him. He has shown a word I despise to this day and that word is "swagger". (What the Capt. Crunch?) Yes, his stroll to the podium. His mannerism in adversity. His cadence in challenging the audience to audit his rhetoric. The man is scoring like Jordan. You may not agree with him but he delivers what people like.
The essence of greatness to be deemed the "greatest" is the foundation of my love, the Hip Hop Nation (and she is, she just doesn't see all the way yet). We often think of the biggest hits, the most money, the illest lyrics or the most (arrrghh) "swagger". We rarely get into the technicals. We rarely even mention authenticity. We will even let creativity slide and still pursue an argument. At the top of many people list (not those manufactured "round table maybe under the table lists) but from common convo the names have been consistence for the G.O.A.T status. They include for the older generation: Rakim,  Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Slick Rick, L.L. Cool Jay, KRS One and depending on your region Mr. Scarface (one of my favs) might come up in the mix. B.I.G. and The General Tupac are always mentioned but I intimately think its because of the shock of their demise compared with their quality of work. Both men are easily legend status for different reasons. You rarely hear someone say " Grandmaster Caz homie." "Yo, Melle Mel, nobody touching him" or "Kool Moe Dee is the illest" because the ever evolving face of the emcee changed to dramatically since the "Busy Bee" era. All three emcees I just mentioned were game makers and changers but that G.O.A.T title eludes them. Why? Longevity and consistency, the icon killers. Now among the 27-45 demographic is the most influential in our charting greatness in almost everything. It seems that my generation was the most privy to all the trend setting and transcending energy ever recorded. We "call it" across genres, industries, technologies, fashions etc. When a person from this 80's to 2k gen speaks, the gloves come off. B.I.G., Nas, Jay Z, 50 cent, Andre 3000, Jadakiss, Tupac often come up. Then I might hear Ice Cube, Snoop, Eminem, Kanye, T.I., Lil Wayne and others but I'm like...no C.L. Smooth? No Busta? How about Twista or Big Pun? Its even gets more difficult putting members of groups in the mix (I don't know but Jadakiss name is always ezceptoon to that rule. I rock with Styles P a little more)
To rise in success with consistency, longevity and either giving the people what they need or imposing your will on them where they want you, is the make up of the G.O.A.T. Think of that when seeing who rises in the face of adversity on your job, in your family, at home, in other categories and industries. The key is to try no to fall for the "flash" and look for the staying power and "wow, this is right" factor. You don't just have an IPhone or Samsung in your hand by accident. You actually may have gotten a glimpse of their greatness. The vision of their company and/or products and how the seamless way they have entered your life experience. If not, hello Kyocera. (I dont even know how to spell it) The difference between Ralph Lauren Polo and U.S. Polo Association. Get my drift but they are both clothing labels. Yes but no. Ralph Lauren Polo is a statment sensationalized in American lifestyle. It could've easily been Karl Kani and it almost was. (I'll visit that in another blog) I think I do it with any thing I may have a desire to work with and entertain myself with. This is when taste meets with functionality and we form a new criteria on what the next level of greatness to be great will mean.
This was a little long but thanks for walking with me. Please rate, comment, follow through email. Check out the MCA ad if you wish. I will be connecting with small business entities and other bloggers to promote products and sponsor events so if you want to build like that contact me. As always its a pleasure and an honor to have your eyes dance across this perspective. Bring up the topic in your circles and see what comes out. Thanks to my homie Chris from Hillside for informing about the Vice investigative journalism series. I will be doing vlogs about that on a YouTube channel soon. (Getting the format down now)  As always live fully, love freely and be intrigued.  Hmmmm.
